THE STORY OF THE STADIUM
The Auto Quest Stadium is a modern all-seater stadium built on the site of the former Naughton Park on Lowerhouse Lane.
It is now fully owned by Halton Borough Council. Widnes Vikings RLFC Ltd was a part-owner, but the shareholders decided to relinquish this 40% holding in exchange for a favourable tenant's agreement in 1999.
The stadium was renamed from the Halton Community Stadium when a local car dealership agreed to sponsor it. Although the company has now ceased to trade, the name continues to be used.
As well as hosting Widnes Vikings home games, Everton Reserves play home games here. In fact, the Auto Quest's biggest crowd was for an Everton v Liverpool reserves game. A Rugby League International match was held at the Auto Quest in 1998, when England played hosts to Wales, the 1999 Emap challenge (NFP v Villeneuve Panthers) took place here, and other amateur representative matches have been played here.
